Aston Villa have been linked with Hull starlet James Chester prompting Tigers boss Steve Bruce to make him a third contract offer.
Villa chief Paul Lambert has been linked with a swoop for the highly-rated 24-year-old defender, who has helped the Tigers secure automatic promotion back to the Premier League from the Championship this past season.
And, as Chester is approaching the final year of his contract at the KC Stadium, Villa could get him for a cut-price fee if he continues to rebuff the offers being put on the table by his current club.
Bruce is aware of Villa's interest and it appears he will make Chester a third contract offer after seeing the first two rejected by the former Manchester United loanee since December.
Chester is thought to be keen to stay but is holding out for a deal which he feels represents his importance to the Hull squad after their promotion.
If he does not sign a new deal by the time the transfer window opens then expect Lambert to make an offer for his services.
