Charles N'Zogbia is a doubt for Aston Villa's Premier League curtain-raiser against Arsenal after suffering an injury on holiday.
The 27-year-old French winger picked up an unspecified problem during his summer break and, until he is assessed by the medical staff at Villa Park, it seems he could miss the August 17 curtain-raiser against the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium.
It is the last thing N'Zogbia needs as the £9.5million signing from Wigan in 2011 is hoping to become a regular in boss Paul Lambert's plans going into next season, having managed just 16 starts and 12 substitute appearances in the league and cup last term.
The former Newcastle man was overlooked towards the end of the campaign as Lambert opted to use the attacking trio of Christian Benteke, Gabby Agbonlahor and Andreas Weimann. And, if he misses the start of the new season he could find it even harder to stake his claim for a place in the side.
