Villa wrap up Milner deal

Aston Villa have completed the capture of Newcastle winger James Milner, in a deal believed to be worth around £10million.

The 22-year-old handed in a transfer request at St James's Park earlier this week and Villa were instantly linked with pre-deadline move for their former loan star.

Despite Newcastle wanting to keep the player, the Magpies have finally decided to sell the former Leeds man, who has penned a four-year deal at Villa Park.

Milner, who only signed a four-year contract with Newcastle last summer, becomes Martin O'Neill's eighth signing of the summer and is expected to play some part in Sunday's home clash with Liverpool.
