Barnsley could be boosted by the return to contention of Kelvin Etuhu, Rory Delap and Rob Edwards for their home game with Hull.
Etuhu, operating in midfield under manager David Flitcroft, has missed the last four games due to a hamstring injury, while defender Delap has been sidelined since mid-March with a calf problem.
Edwards, struggling with a hamstring injury, was an unused substitute at Nottingham Forest last week.
Fellow defenders Bobby Hassell (hamstring) and Jim McNulty (ankle) remain sidelined and midfielder Stephen Dawson sits out the last game of his three-match ban.
Striker Chris Dagnall and midfielder Tomasz Cywka are both pushing for recalls, while defender Andrai Jones is hoping to retain his place after making his first start for the club at Forest.
The Tykes, second from bottom, could climb out of the bottom three with victory, but defeat could see them relegated if other results go against them.
