Cryne slams Davey ultimatum talk

BarnsleyReports that boss Simon Davey has just three games to save his job at Barnsley have been rubbished by the club's owner Patrick Cryne.

The tabloid media claimed on Wednesday that Davey was in the last chance saloon following the Reds disappointing start to the new season in which they have lost their opening three Championship games and were knocked out of the Carling Cup against League One Crewe.

However Cryne, who has only witnessed the opening day defeat at QPR due to being away in Ireland, spoke out to quell the rumours that Davey could soon be axed.

He said: "That is complete nonsense. It is Simon's job and remains so."

However Davey will no doubt be keen to take the pressure off himself by guiding the club to a win against fellow strugglers Derby on Saturday, before a two-week break for internationals.
