Cumbrians in Tykes ace bid

BarnsleyCarlisle boss John Ward has admitted that he wants to take Barnsley defender Paul Reid back to Brunton Park after his injury-hit loan.

The 26-year-old former Cumbrians stopper rejoined the club on loan from the Tykes towards the end of last season, but an ankle injury meant he only played in one match for the League One outfit.

However Ward is looking to see if there is any possibility of taking Reid back to the club ahead of next season.

"Paul is a player we are following but while he is contracted to Barnsley they hold the important cards," said Ward.

"If he was to be released to their mutual agreement, we will look at it.

"It's up to Barnsley really what happens now."
