Davey considers loan options

BarnsleyBarnsley boss Simon Davey is considering allowing midfielder Simon Heslop to join up with either Port Vale or Grimsby Town on loan.

The boss is expected to decide on Heslop's future over the next few days as he weighs up his options in the transfer market. But in the meantime he was happy to see some of his injured players get back on the pitch in the defeat to Rotherham.

He was also pleased to see new recruit and veteran centre-back Darren Moore play 90 minutes.

"We also got Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Martin Devaney on the pitch, which was pleasing," he said.

"You don't like to lose, even in friendlies, but it is about peaking at the right time not a fortnight before.

"Fitness wise, we need a little bit more and we've a lot of work to do in the next two weeks. The Wigan game (tomorrow), provides us with a step up and that's just what's needed right now."
