Defender backed by boss

BarnsleyBarnsley boss Simon Davey has claimed Darren Moore showed 'footballing nous' when he brought down Lewis Guy at the weekend.

The veteran centre-half was sent off by the referee for the foul but had he let Guy go and he had scored Barnsley would have been two down and staring defeat in the face.

As it was they staged a remarkable comeback and won 4-1 and Davey refused to condemn his defender who will miss the next match against Crystal Palace in two weeks time.

"Let's just say that he took the better of the two options," Davey declared.

"Darren showed a bit of nous. Less experienced defenders would not have done what he did and let the player go."
