Defender set for exit

Barnsley boss Simon Davey is considering whether to allow defender Rob Atkinson to leave the club and join Grimsby.

Town assistant boss Stuart Watkiss has confirmed they are in talks with Davey about the player and they are keen to sign him on a permanent basis at Blundell Park.

Watkiss said this week: "We are in contact with Barnsley about Rob. We are waiting to see if Simon Davey identifies whether or not Rob is part of his plans for Barnsley.

"If he is, then Rob will stay at Oakwell. But if not, then it is something we will look at."
