No Bhoys raid for Reds

BarnsleyBarnsley have scotched reports claiming they are ready to pay out around £800,000 for Celtic striker Derek Riordan.

Reds boss Simon Davey is looking to bolster his forward line ahead of the new Championship season in just over a week's time, but it seems he does not want to take 25-year-old Riordan from the Scottish champions, despite him being up for grabs.

Meanwhile, Davey has his work cut out to restore some confidence to his players following Tuesday's 6-0 thrashing against Premier League Wigan at Oakwell.

Only Hugo Colace and goalkeeper Luke Steele were missing from the side which is likely to start against QPR when the season gets underway on August 9 and they were outplayed for vast spells against Latics.
