"We've raised the bar again this summer and decided to increase the level of work we put them though in the first seven days," Kelly told the official club website.
"The human body has limits and we will find out where those are by testing the players through training.
"We apply sports science to our training programme and want to push the players as hard as we can to improve their levels of fitness.
"There is a limit physiologically, but it's my job to get the players as far as we can and as near as possible to their maximum threshold."
