Barnsley boss Mark Robins has snapped up Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez on a month's loan to bolster the Tykes promotion push.

The 20-year-old has made 38 appearances for the Clarets after coming through their youth system and had a good spell on loan at Stirling Albion back in 2007.

Mark Robins hopes he has a similar impact at Oakwell, "Jay is a young player who I have watched for a while," he told Barnsley's official website.

"I believe he will go on to become an established Premier League player in the future. He is a clever player with a lot of ability and someone who has scored some good goals.

"He needs to play matches and he will get that opportunity with us.

"I am sure both Jay and Filipe (Teixeira) will be warmly welcomed by everybody at Barnsley FC and we are all looking forward to seeing them in action for us."
