Blues transfer struggle

NewsConcerns are growing among Everton fans, as David Moyes is still looking to make his first signing of the summer.

Blues supporters have seen both Andrew Johnson and Lee Carsley depart Goodison Park and as Everton look to break into the top four in the Premier League, Moyes has been frustrated in his attempts to add to his squad.

Current players, including skipper Phil Neville and Leon Osman, have already expressed the club's need for new faces and fans looking to take advantage of a free £25 bet will be concerned by the lack of new faces.

Osman insisted: "We can't go into the season with only four recognised senior midfielders in the squad.

"Those players will be extremely match fit when the season starts, but we could do with a few more players coming in to help take the load off them."

David Moyes has conceded he may need as many as five or six new players and was thwarted again this week with his attempts to capture a new midfielder, when Sporting Lisbon rejected an £11.8million offer for midfielder Joao Moutinho.

After a brilliant campaign in 2007-08, which saw them finish fifth, the major concern for the Everton faithful is that they won't be able to build on that and could face a return to the days of struggling in the bottom half.
