Moyes sets transfer targets

NewsEverton boss David Moyes has been frustrated in the transfer market but wants to add 'six or seven' new faces before the end of August.

Moyes has made no secret of the fact that he wants to bring in new signings before the transfer window closes, but Everton have found themselves priced out of moves for several players and the Blues' small squad is being tested.

That was highlighted by Saturday's opening-day defeat to Blackburn, when Moyes had just 10 fit professionals and had to name several youngsters on the bench, with real fears among the fans that Everton will struggle to build on last season's top-six finish.

Moyes admits that he faces problems over the coming weeks, with a number of first-team squad members still not yet match-fit and those eyeing a £25 free bet on the Blues will be concerned ahead of this weekend's trip to new-boys West Brom.

The Blues manager told the Daily Post: "Tim Cahill isn't back yet, Leon Osman missed a good majority of the pre-season and has only just returned.

"We have got young boys as well so if we picked up an injury or two, we might be in trouble. We have got players at all different levels and all different periods of their preparation."

Moyes added: "I said in the summer that I needed to get five players, it could now be up to six or seven. Is getting seven players in possible? I don't know."
