Blues in fresh Hibs swoop link

BirminghamBirmingham boss Alex McLeish is reportedly plotting another raid on Hibernian for the services of highly-rated striker Steven Fletcher.

The 21-year-old Scotland international made his first appearance for George Burley's senior squad in the 1-1 friendly draw against Croatia in March following an excellent season at Easter Road in which he secured the Scottish Writers' Young Player of the Year award.

Fletcher has already been linked with a shock move to Spanish giants Real Madrid and Newcastle after scouts from both clubs watched him last season.

However no bids have been forthcoming from either and former Hibs boss McLeish, who snapped up full-back David Murphy from them in January, could be set to launch a raid for his services.

The Blues are desperate for strikers this summer as they look to bounce straight back into the Premier League next term. And, after missing out on Czech Republic veteran Jan Koller, McLeish could now switch his attentions to Fletcher.
