Blues boss Alex McLeish is monitoring the Eidur Gudjohnsen situation closely with a view to making a move for the player.

It had looked to be a forgone conclusion that the Icelandic forward would be on his way to White Hart Lane after his successful loan at Spurs last season but the move has stalled following complications over his loan deal.

There is the possibility that Monaco may allow him to leave on a permanent basis and Birmingham have been joined by Fulham, who are watching developments closely, while there has also been interest from Dubai in the 31-year-old.

McLeish has still got transfer targets despite bringing in Ben Foster, Enric Valles and Nikola Zigic to the club and he will be looking to land a deal for Gudjohnsen if he can.
