Birmingham have pulled out of a reported £4million deal to take Lens striker Aruna Dindane to St Andrews.

The Blues looked to be very close to sealing a deal for the Ivory Coast international, who has spent the first half of the season on loan at cash-strapped Premier League rivals Portsmouth.

The player arrived at St Andrews on Friday and was set to complete the formalities of the move which would have allowed boss Alex McLeish to concentrate on his next targets ahead of Monday's 5pm deadline.

However it is being reported that the Blues decided against signing Dindane and he could now either continue his loan spell at Fratton Park or return to France with Lens.
