Birmingham have signed defender Peter Ramage on loan from QPR until the end of the season.

The versatile 28-year-old can play at right-back or centre-half and adds the defensive cover Blues boss Chris Hughton has craved for the season run-in.

Ramage, who missed most of last year with a knee injury, spent the first half of this term on loan with Championship rivals Crystal Palace, making 23 appearances between August and January.

Birmingham have also signed out of contract full-back Cian Hughton - son of manager Chris - on a deal until the summer.

The 23-year-old has been training with Blues of late and has impressed for the club's reserves, most recently in the second string's 1-0 triumph over Coventry on Tuesday. He will continue to spend a large part of his time with City's development squad.

Out-of-contract striker Caleb Folan also appears set to earn a deal with the midlands club having impressed during his recent trial.
