Blues set to sign midfielder

Birmingham are on the verge of wrapping up a deal for Nigel Quashie after he impressed while on trial at the club.

The West Ham midfielder has been training with Birmingham for the last few weeks and has done enough to convince Blues boss Alex McLeish that he is worth a chance.

Quashie is expected to join initially on loan but the deal could be made permanent when the transfer window opens again in January, if he impresses during that time.

The deal is expected to be rubberstamped after the international break.
