Crystal Palace boss George Burley hopes to keep Nathaniel Clyne, despite Birmingham's interest in the talented young right-back.
Reports suggest Blues have already tabled an initial £2million bid for the England Under-19 international, who is currently away with the international side and preparing to face Spain in the semi-finals of the European Championships.
Palace had hoped to tie him down to a new contract at Selhurst Park but he has so far failed to commit his future to the Eagles and Burley is aware there will be plenty of interest in him, such is his ability.
However, the Palace chief will try to resist all offers for the 19-year-old although his hand could be forced if Clyne indicates he wants to move on and a big offer comes in for him.
"It is a situation that is ongoing as far as I am concerned," Burley said.
"There's going to be interest but we are looking to have him at Crystal Palace and I want to keep him. When you have got outstanding young players the stories won't go away."
