Birmingham have signed Shane Ferguson on a month-long loan deal from Newcastle.
The 21-year-old is able to play on the left wing or at left-back and arrives just a day after it was revealed on-loan winger Rob Hall has returned to parent club West Ham to have an ongoing groin injury assessed.
Ferguson arrives on a deal until April 1 and could make his debut in Saturday's trip to promotion-chasing Hull.
The regular Northern Ireland international is an Academy graduate at Newcastle and has made 23 first-team appearances for the north-east club to date, with 14 of those coming this season.
Ferguson's arrival provides welcome cover for Hall, who missed City's 2-0 victory at Peterborough last Saturday due to his groin problem.
Hall's last loan extension at St Andrew's expires on March 16 and both Blues and the Hammers will continue to monitor the niggling complaint before making a decision on his future.
The 19-year-old has to date made 13 appearances since first arriving in November, providing seven assists during that time.
