Alex McLeish has thanked City's board for financing the moves he has made in the transfer market this summer.

The Blues manager has completed six new captures since leading Blues back to the Premier League - strengthening the defensive ranks with Roger Johnson, Scott Dann and Giovanny Espinoza.

Co-owner David Sullivan has pledged to continue backing McLeish and the Scot has been thrilled with the board's support.

"The money that we have spent has been exceptional in my opinion and the board deserve credit for that," McLeish told Sky Sports News.

"I really thought that we would get one centre-half and then I'd have to pull a rabbit out of a hat to get another one, and the board have pushed the boat out to get me three."
