Boss reveals striker status

BirminghamBlues boss Alex McLeish hopes Mikael Forssell chooses to stay but admits the matter is out of his hands now.

The Scot confirmed that talks are ongoing between Forssell's agent and the club while the player spends the summer completing his compulsory national service.

With his current deal due to expire next month, the Finn is in a position to talk to other clubs as Blues have indicated they are unlikely to take up the option to re-sign him on the previously agreed terms.

"It's up the club and Mikael to come to some sort of agreement," said McLeish. "It's in the hands of Karren Brady now and she will deal with it until such time as she lets me know.

"I spoke to Mikael last week and asked him how he felt about staying on and he was positive but if the deal is not right for him he won't stay on."
