Captain Stephen Carr is set to sign a new two-year-deal at Birmingham City ending speculation surrounding his future.

Carr made 40 appearances for the Blues last season but suggested he may move on at the start of the summer as he feared he would struggle to secure first team football at St Andrew's.

However, the 33-year-old is now set to sign a new deal with the club despite failing to agree terms earlier in the summer.

Meanwhile, Birmingham City goalkeeper Colin Doyle has joined Plymouth Argyle for a week long trial, with the 25-year-old set to join the League One side on loan if he impresses during his trial spell.
