Lee Clark was delighted to see Blues keep a first clean sheet in 20 attempts as they and Sheffield Wednesday battled out a draw.
Clark felt Blues just about did enough to justify winning a tough game at St Andrew's, although Owls counterpart Dave Jones also shared the same belief that his side should have come away with all three points.
Nevertheless, it was the first time City had shut out the opposition since their 2-0 victory over Bristol City at the start of November, while it was the club's first 0-0 draw since a home clash against Hull almost a year ago to the day.
"I'm very happy for the players, I think they've been unfortunate in the last few games where we could have had clean sheets," Clark said.
"Certainly Huddersfield away a few weeks ago where we're 40 seconds away from winning 1-0 there, and I think we've had a good shape - we had a good shape at Charlton, obviously we've come up against a terrific technical team in Watford.
"But against Sheffield Wednesday everyone stuck to the game plan, we knew what was going to be coming, and every single player has made a contribution.
"Hopefully we can take that on to Saturday now. It always gives you an opportunity when you're keeping a clean sheet, with the attacking players we have, to win the game."
Clark was less happy, however, with the performance of referee Stuart Attwell.
"I think you have seen the best tackle at St Andrew's this season by Callum Reilly, which then has put Chris Burke in," he said. "It's an unbelievably timed tackle - there's no studs raised, it's not high, it's the side of his foot - and we get punished.
"In the second half, why is my top goalscorer (Marlon King) going to go down when he's clean through on goal? Why? I should have David Allison, the boss of the referees, on speed dial. I should put him above my wife on my phone because I speak to him more than her to be honest. But I'll keep doing it, I'll do it the right way. But there were one or two that went our way that Sheffield Wednesday could have had as well. I just want consistency, it's all all of us managers want."
