Birmingham are interested in Monaco's France Under-21 striker Frederic Nimani and Scotland midfielder Barry Ferguson.

Blues boss Alex McLeish confirmed his interest in Rangers' Ferguson yesterday, but admitted he had other options as he looks to strengthen the engine room of his side.

Nimani is a striker or winger who scored six goals in the French top flight last season, three in his first four appearances after returning from a loan spell at Sedan.

But his goal ratio tailed off at the end of the season amid reports that his agent was looking to strike a new deal with the Monaco board.

Arsenal were linked with the 20-year-old in January but Arsene Wenger did not make a move for the 6ft 3inch forward.
