Gold snubs McFadden offer

BirminghamCeltic's £5.5million plus central defender Bobo Balde offer for striker James McFadden has been turned down by Birmingham City.

Bhoys' boss Gordon Strachan made the offer to the relegated Blues in an effort to entice the Celtic supporting Scotland international to Parkhead. However, with McFadden already pledging his future to the Blues, chairman David Gold insisted he is not for sale as former Rangers boss Alex McLeish sees him as key member of his squad as the St Andrews outfit aim to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Gold said: "James McFadden is not for sale. We want to keep our best players to help us try to get back to the Premier League as quickly as possible."
