Keeper deal close

BirminghamKeeper Maik Taylor looks set to snub interest from Everton in order to help Birmingham regain their Premier League status next season.

The experienced Northern Ireland international was reportedly wanted by David Moyes to provide cover for USA star Tim Howard.

However, first-team football at St Andrews appears to be the preferred choice for the veteran.

"I believe we're close to agreeing a deal," boss Alex McLeish told the News of the World.

"I'm hopeful that he will sign because he can have a big role to play for us next season."

Meanwhile, Crewe have snapped up goalkeeper Adam Legzdins on a two-year deal.

The 21-year-old was released by City at the end of last season after failing to make a first-team appearance for the club.
