Blues boss Alex McLeish has revealed he expects to finalise the terms of his new contract when he returns from China.
McLeish has held further talks with owner Carson Yeung and his righthand man Peter Pannu duing Birmingham's pre-season trip to the Far East and is close to signing an extension at St Andrews.
The former Scotland manager has a year left on his present deal after which time a rolling 12-month contract kicks in, but both he and Yeung are keen to remove any doubt about his future.
"Peter was in touch with my lawyer and sent some figures to him," McLeish told the Birmingham Mail.
"He has seen them, he's going to come down to me first thing next week when we're back and we're going to move it forward.
"The logistics at the moment, as we're here in China, means we can't get it done straight away.
"But I know the parameters and we're going to try and get it nailed next week.
"We're due back to St Andrew's on the Thursday and I will be meeting my lawyer that day and hopefully he will see Peter on Friday, if Peter's back in England by that time."
