Megson secures target deal

BirminghamBolton have signed Birmingham midfielder Fabrice Muamba on a four-year deal for a fee in the region of £5million.

The former England Under-21 international cost the Blues just £2million when they turned his loan spell into a permanent deal last summer, but boss Alex McLeish is rebuilding for the Championship and must generate some funds.

And having signed Lee Carsley from Everton on a free transfer as his replacement, McLeish has allowed Muamba to depart St Andrew's with the Trotters adding him to their engine room.

Wigan and Reading had also been linked but it is the Trotters who have swiftly concluded the deal.
