Benni McCarthy says he wanted out of Blackburn because he was not happy with the style of play at Ewood Park.
McCarthy completed a move to West Ham on deadline day following a troubled time at the club and the striker has now admitted it was the style of football under Allardyce he could not cope with.
The South African has refused to criticise the club or manager and also regrets that he never got a chance to say goodbye to the fans before completing his move to Upton Park.
"I have no complaints about Blackburn," he revealed. "They did not play the kind of football that I wanted to play and so I couldn't play there. I never had a disagreement with the manager. I have always been respectful and he has always been up front with me.
"I accepted his decision and it was clear that I needed a move and if I had stayed they would not have had a happy player.
"I felt I served my time at Blackburn and I am sad that I never had the chance to say thanks to the fans as they have been brilliant to me."
