Blackburn are being linked with a move for Manchester City striker Benjani as Sam Allardyce plans a late swoop in the transfer market.

Allardyce still expects to lose Benni McCarthy to West Ham United even though reports have suggested that move has stalled due to a work permit issue, and he is keen to find a replacement.

The Rovers boss has already failed to land Eidur Gudjohnsen from Monaco while a move for Stoke striker James Beattie is also unlikely to happen before the window closes.

Reports now claim that Allardyce will turn to City striker Benjani in the hope he can take him on loan for the rest of the season.
