Man City boss Mark Hughes has been told he will not be able to tempt Blackburn keeper Brad Friedel to Eastlands this summer.

Former Rovers boss Hughes has been linked with a move for the veteran American who served him well during his spell in charge at Ewood Park.

But Blackburn are adamant Friedel is going nowhere because new boss Paul Ince is happy to keep him as his number one for now.

"There is some interest but Paul Ince's wish is to start the season with Brad Friedel," Rovers chairman John Williams told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
