Blackburn boss Paul Ince has told Robbie Fowler to battle for his place and has ruled out a move to Grimsby.
The striker has struggled for action since Ince offered him a short-term contract in the summer and reports had claimed that Grimsby were on the verge of signing him.
However, Ince insists he is unaware of any interest from the Mariners and says Fowler will get his chance when Blackburn start to climb the Premiership table.
"It's been hard to blood Robbie into the starting XI because of the situation we're in," Ince revealed. "The same goes with Carlos (Villanueva). We've not had too much opportunity to throw them in and have a look at them.
"I know Robbie's dying to get out on the pitch and show what he can do. Around the changing room the lads love him, and he's experienced. He's good for the club.
"We'll sit down and see where we go from here, but as far as Grimsby's concerned, I don't know anything about that."
