Veteran Scottish coach Archie Knox is a reported target for Paul Ince as he aims to add some experience to his Blackburn coaching team.

The new Rovers boss has already drafted in number two Ray Mathias from his former club MK Dons and he now wants 61-year-old Knox at Ewood Park before the players return for pre-season training.

Ince has worked with Knox at Manchester United in the past and knows he is currently out of work after quitting Bolton when Gary Megson took charge at the Reebok Stadium midway through last season. He had been caretaker manager after Sammy Lee's sacking, but was no longer required in Megson's backroom team.

As a result, Rovers chairman John Williams has admitted that Ince could make a move to take Knox to the Lancashire outfit.

"He (Knox) is certainly someone who Paul is considering joining the coaching staff, but it is not a done deal by any means," he said.
