Robbo signs for Rovers

Blackburn have completed the signing of Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson for £3.5m, opening the door for Brad Friedel to leave.

The former Leeds man has signed a fiver-year contract at Ewood Park to bring to an end a poor year at White Hart Lane, where he lost his place in the first team and his position as England's number one.

When Spurs boss Juande Ramos signed Brazilian keeper Heurelho Gomes from Dutch side PSV Eindhoven last month Robinson new his time was up.

Robinson is Paul Ince's first signing as Blackburn boss and looks set to replace Brad Friedel, who is on the verge of joining Aston Villa.
