Blackburn goalkeeper Paul Robinson could be set to call time on his self-imposed England exile after the resignation of Fabio Capello.
Robinson decided to quit international football two years ago having featured just as an used substitute on three occasions under the Italian but it's now understood he is ready to reverse that call to aid his country.
England caretaker manager Stuart Pearce hasn't contacted the 33-year-old about his availability nor have the FA, but Robinson has told friends he would be willing to come back if he is wanted.
It's a position in which the squad is short of proven options to challenge undisputed number one Joe Hart, and with Euro 2012 on the horizon, Capello's successor would be foolish to overlook the Rovers stopper if he is available.
Robinson, who has 41 caps to his name for his country, would certainly be a more experienced alternative to current backups Scott Carson and David Stockdale who have just four caps between them.
His last outing for England was during a 2-1 defeat against Russia in Moscow in 2007, having previously been first choice during the World Cup in Germany in 2006.
Pearce is due to name his squad this week for the upcoming friendly against Holland as preparations continue for this summer's tournament in Poland and Ukraine.
