Blackburn are being tipped to scupper Rangers attempts to sign Northern Ireland midfielder Steven Davis this summer.

The Fulham man spent much of last season on loan at Ibrox and Walter Smith has made no secret of the fact that he wants to sign the player on a permanent basis.

The Gers have held discussions with Fulham over a possible deal for Davis, who seems certain to leave Craven Cottage, but have been unable to agree a fee for the 23-year-old.

The Gers boss recently stated: "Talks with Fulham about Steven are ongoing. That is something we have been doing and will continue to do."

But now Paul Ince is believed to be lining up a bid for the player, while Wigan, Middlesbrough and Newcastle are keeping tabs on his situation.
