Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce claims he has balanced the books as Christian Vieri reportedly links up with Rovers for pre-season.
Allardyce has brought in money from the sales of Roque Santa Cruz and Matt Derbyshire to Manchester City and Olympiakos respectively, so does not have to wheel and deal unless it is on his own terms.
The Ewood Park chief has made finding a prolific striker his priority and is said to be running the rule over Italian veteran Vieri at the club's training camp in Austria.
Allardyce told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We don't need to sell anybody else now. We've put the financial side right and I've got some funds to spend.
"I won't be able to sign as much as I can get, though. It will stop somewhere along the line. Sometimes, you can do your business and all of a sudden something appears that you never expected to appear."
Allardyce, who has been knocked back in his bid to sign Bolton captain Kevin Davies, added: "Then I've got to try to convince the club that it's the right thing to do, even if it means going above what they expected or wanted to do, because this player would be so good for Blackburn.
"If that means trading again, I would have to look at that option."
