Blackburn Rovers' star Keith Andrews has admitted an interest in turning his loan switch to West Brom into a permanent deal.

The Republic of Ireland international midfielder was snapped up from Blackburn Rovers by Albion boss Roy Hodgson during the January transfer window and made an immediate impression with a sweet strike during Sunday's stunning 5-1 Black Country derby win at Wolves.

Andrews had to wait for his chance to shine as a substitute at Molineux when he replaced the injured Paul Scharner, but he is now looking to keep hold of a first-team spot between now and the end of the season with a view to signing a permanent deal at the Hawthorns this summer.

The 31-year-old, who has fallen out of favour with Rovers boss Steve Kean and spent the first half the season on loan with Championship outfit Ipswich Town told the West Brom official website: "I've settled really well and the lads have made me feel really welcome.

"I knew a few of them anyway but I have enjoyed my time so far.

"I have enjoyed the training sessions and being around the lads and making my debut at the weekend was hopefully the first of many games this season.

"I would certainly be open to a longer deal.

"I have come here to play for a head coach I want to play for and a club I believe is run well and has a good set of lads that I enjoy coming in and working with every day.

"I enjoy being part of the team, so I am certainly open to it and I'm sure if I keep going the way I am then the club will be as well."
