Rovers reject bids for stars

BlackburnBlackburn have rejected bids for David Bentley and Stephen Warnock - and have insisted Andre Ooijer is not for sale.

Following the departure of manager Mark Hughes to local rivals Manchester City, the Ewood Park outfit have had offers for a host of their top name stars.

Goalkeeper Brad Friedel has handed in a transfer request, while playmaker Bentley has attracted interest from a host of top sides. Defenders Ooijer and Warnock have also been the subjects of failed transfer bids.

Rovers, however, remain firm in their stance, insisting that none of their stars will leave on the cheap.

Chairman John Williams insisted Newcastle target Warnock was not for sale, saying: "We've had a bid of £2million. It was rejected and the club concerned has been told he is not for sale."

Ooijer could not command a regular place in the Blackburn team last season and was open to leaving the club, having said recently: "I am not happy about that. I do not wish to continuously sit on the bench."

Greek side Panathinaikos have made an approach for Ooijer, but Williams added: "We've not received a written bid from Panathinaikos, but I've made it clear anyway that Andre is not for sale."
