Rovers sweat on star injury

BlackburnBlackburn are sweating over the fitness of Roque Santa Cruz, who could miss the big kick-off against Everton through injury.

The influential striker picked up an Achilles injury against Wolves last week and Rovers now say he is facing a race against time to be fit for next Saturday's clash.

Santa Cruz picked up the injury shortly after scoring Blackburn's second goal in the 4-2 defeat at Molineux and has been unable to train properly this week.

The Achilles is still said to be heavily bruised and the player has not been able to do anything more than light jogging. The news is a big concern for boss Paul Ince, who will want his star striker ready for the opening clash.
