Blackburn defender Danny Simpson says joining Rovers on loan was the right move but hinted that his future still lay with Man Utd.
Simpson is currently on a seasons long loan deal at Ewood Park after finding opportunities with Manchester United very limited.
The 21-year-old says that despite being focused on playing for Blackburn now his overall goal is to become a regular fixture in the United team.
"I spoke with Sir Alex Ferguson in the summer and we both agreed it was the best thing to do to have a full season of experience in the Premiership every week," Simpson told the Manchester Evening News.
"It was something we decided on together. He was honest and said 'I am not sure you will get many games this year at United, maybe the same as last'. So I said I'd like to go elsewhere and play at the highest level.
"When the Blackburn opportunity came along I couldn't wait. It is a big club and to work under Paul Ince was great.
"I felt at my age the best way to learn and give myself the best chance to play for Man United was to go somewhere else and show what I could do and improve my game.
"I used to see Jonny Evans playing for Sunderland last season on loan in the Premiership and he was loving it. I wanted that. I spoke to Fraizer Campbell at Hull who were doing well in the Championship. I knew I had to get that opportunity.
"I supported United ever since I was a boy and all I ever wanted to do was play for them.
"I am concentrating on Blackburn now but my United dream is not over. We will see what happens."
