New Blackburn boss Paul Ince is bracing himself for an improved bid from Tottenham for unsettled winger David Bentley.

Rovers have already rejected an initial player-plus-cash offer from Spurs manager Juande Ramos which involved England winger Aaron Lennon heading in the opposite direction to Ewood Park.

Bentley, who has also been linked with moves to Liverpool and Aston Villa, revealed his desire to quit Blackburn and join a higher profile Premier League side at the start of last month.

Ince is understood to have held talks with the 23-year-old former Arsenal midfielder last weekend but Bentley has his heart set on a move with Tottenham the favourites to sign him, although Blackburn will hold out for a substantial fee.
