Blackpool are closing in on extending Barry Bannan's loan deal from Aston Villa until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has already made eight appearances for the Seasiders this season and having impressed Ian Holloway is set to extend his deal with the club.

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill is happy for Bannan to stay at Bloomfield Road in order to gain first team experience and is expected to give the deal the green light on Thursday.

Reports indicate Blackpool expect the deal to be completed before Monday's transfer deadline.
