Bolton boss Dougie Freedman has made former Crystal Palace team-mate Danny Butterfield his second signing of transfer deadline day.
Following the arrival of West Ham youngster Robert Hall, 33-year-old centre-back Butterfield has arrived on loan from Southampton until May 4.
"He's an experienced player and will come in and give us some real competition for places," Freedman told Bolton's official website.
"He's a great character, is a fantastic professional and won the Championship with Southampton last season.
"These Premier League loans can help us maintain the form we are in as we approach the business end of the season."
