Bolton boss Owen Coyle explained the 'inflated' January prices put him off adding to his Wanderers squad in the transfer window.

After Coyle made the switch from Burnley to Bolton in early January, many expected the Wanderers boss to have a busy January.

However, aside from the loan signings of Jack Wilshere, from Arsenal, and Vladimir Weiss, from Manchester City, Coyle made no major moves in the transfer window.

Coyle explained he believes the Bolton side is good enough to stay up without adding any new faces, while also stating the inflated prices convinced him to avoid splashing out.

"As anyone will tell you, prices are inflated at this time of year," Coyle told the Manchester Evening News. "We looked at it but I think we have got a decent enough squad.

"I'm not into knee-jerk reactions that could jeopardise the future of this club by throwing out silly money.

"If players were available at the right price, we would have been interested."

Bolton did allow youngsters Mark Connolly, Temitope Obadeyi and Danny Ward to leave the club on loan. Connolly has joined SPL side St Johnstone for the remainder of the season, Ward has extended his loan stay at Swindon until the end of the campaign and Obadeyi has joined League Two leaders Rochdale for the rest of the season.
