Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce has ended his interest in Bolton striker Kevin Davies after being told he is not for sale.

Allardyce is looking to replace Roque Santa Cruz and Matt Derbyshire this summer and was hoping for a reunion with Davies after signing him for the Trotters in 2003.

But he will have to turn his attention to other targets after Ewood Park chairman John Williams was told the 32-year-old is going nowhere.

Allardyce is tracking Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy as he bids to reinvest some of the cash raised from the sales of Santa Cruz and Derbyshire.
