Chung-Yong Lee is set to train with the reserves this weekend as he bids to return to the Bolton first-team for the run in.

Wanderers have been without their star winger all season after he suffered an horrific double leg fracture against Newport in pre-season and he has been badly missed as Owen Coyle's men have battled to beat the drop.

However the South Korean has made significant progress and if he comes through training with the reserves this weekend he will join in with the first-team sessions next week.

Coyle is keen to get him back before the season is out but says they will not take any risks if he is not ready.

"Chungy is making significant progress," Coyle told the club's website. "He continues to train well on the medical side and we're hoping that he'll be able to train with the reserves on Friday and Saturday.

"If he comes through that without any reaction then hopefully he can join in with the first team next week and step up his training from there.

"We'd love to have him involved before the end of the season, but we've got to be careful not to do anything detrimental to his long-term future."
