Ryo Miyaichi had mixed feelings after making his Bolton debut at the weekend.

Miyaichi, who joined Wanderers on transfer deadline day from Arsenal in a loan deal until the end of the season, came off the bench in Saturday's clash with Wigan at the Reebok Stadium in what was his first appearance in the Barclays Premier League.

The Japanese 19-year-old was delighted to see some action but having had a shot saved late on by goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi, was ultimately disappointed he could not help prevent the Trotters from slipping to a 2-1 defeat against their fellow strugglers.

"I was happy to be playing and I found out more about the Premier League, but we lost the game so I can't enjoy it too much," Miyaichi told www.bwfc.co.uk.

"The manager told me to go and play my football and be confident. He wanted me to run at the defenders and take them on, so that was what I tried to do.

"I could have got a goal but the goalkeeper made a good save. If I had scored then everything would be more positive. Next time I'm sure I can score."
